Hi Folks,
There are 2 bills Governor Mike Kehoe is trying to fast track through our House and Senate. I’m not seeing a good reason to do that. If you would, read below and check out the link, and let me know if you see something good that I’m missing.
The bills are HB (House Bill) 544 and SB (Senate Bill) 14. Here’s the deal (Link), and I’ll bullet point below:
Bayer and Monsanto have paid out dump truck loads of money to settle court cases from people who have been harmed, claiming their harm (cancer, other illnesses, etc.) came from exposure to Round-up products. In this case “dump trucks” refers to 100,000 lawsuits with a current payout of $11 billion (Billion, with a “B”), and around 54,000 lawsuit cases are still in the queue! Now they’re trying to get a blanket approval and indemnification (means to not be held liable) for their products.
They haven’t been able to get indemnity at the Federal Level, so now they’re sweeping across the U.S. pushing, shoving, payrolling and pulling in favors from legislators to get the indemnity done at state levels.
If these products hold no liability, why have the companies paid out tractor trailer loads of money (BILLIONS! Remember…?) to lots of “damaged” people? Hm…? 🤔
Gov. Mike Kehoe, newly elected as Missouri governor, is trying VERY HARD to fast-track these bills through both our House and Senate. WHY? What’s the rush-rush?
Could it be he has benefitted from Bayer/Monsanto in some financial-ish sort of way??? Think PAC money…??
Many other states have been approached to fast-track the indemnity and are fighting back. Why is Missouri rolling over for a tummy scratch????
Please take a look at the link highlighted above. Then if you are so inclined, take the time to call or email your Representative and Senator, asking them to STOP HB 544 and SB 14 and prevent Bayer/Monsanto from being held “not liable” for damage caused by Roundup.
To find your Representative, go to: house.mo.gov. Then click on the tab “Members” right above Jon Patterson’s smug little face. You’ll find all the Representatives and phone numbers listed there alphabetically. Most of us are in District 54 with Representative Brandon Phelps or District 57 with Rep. Roger Reedy.
To find your Senator, go to: senate.mo.gov/Senators. Senators faces will be shown along with their name. Click on the correct Senator’s face and it will take you to his/her “Contact page.” There, on the upper right side under another picture of him/her, you’ll find the contact phone/email. Most of us are in Rick Brattin’s District 31.
This will take about 5 minutes for each email/call - or contact both of them with one email!!! You’ll feel GREAT after you do it!!
Ronald Reagan - “Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”
If I’ve learned anything over the last 4 years, the truth of that statement would cover it. Emails and phone calls help preserve freedom. Our prayers do even more.
