We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Saturday, February 17, 2024 😲☹️ The emperors Have No Clothes, & We Need to Let Them Know That We Know
Hi Folks!
I’ve done something today I encourage you to do as well. I wrote emails to my Senators. Some were kind. Some were not so kind. Some were either, depending on which Senator received the email.
I’ve put the letters below in case you’re interested in what was said. If you’d like to write a similar letter, I’ll just let you know I still have some adrenalin pumping from doing it. I was remarkably truthful.
If you’d like to send a letter to all our Senators or some of our Senators, I’ll put the emails of all of them below. You can copy and paste into your email “To:” section. You can put them into a Word document to cut & paste later on as well.
In an email, I suggest you put the names in the Bcc section to keep the email from being so long, unless you want to be certain that certain Senators know you are writing specifically to them.

This first letter is in response to Senator Mike Moon's facebook message to us about Senator O’Laughlin not being willing to count our written testimonies. She wanted them thrown out, as only people who testify in person actually count…if in fact even those do.
Senator Moon’s message is in the link below. I sent the response below to Senator Moon, and in response to my question as to whether or not to send the email to all Senators, his administrative staff suggested I do that. So I did.

Dear Senator,
This letter may be helpful for you to read. Enjoy.
Hello Senator Moon,
Thank you for reaching out to all of us via fb today regarding the abuse of power, and negligence of the Missouri People that is occurring due to some members of the Senate.
You described it much more generously than I just did, however that's what is actually happening. Missourians contact their Senators and Representatives to be sure those people whose job it is to REPRESENT US know what we want done in our government.
That outreach is done in several ways. We sometimes visit in person, we sometimes call, and sometimes we reach out in written word via email or hard copy letter. All of those ways are 100% valid. To disregard one method of outreach over another is nothing more than negligence and/or preferential bias.
In addition, limiting time for verbal testimony of one speaker vs another also is neglect of fiduciary duty.
The job of the Senate Floor Leader and President Pro Tem is NOT to keep things moving according to their own preferences. Their job is to fully vet issues and bills, so their fellow Senators can make a well-informed decision on which will best represent and HELP their constituents.
It cannot be overstated that Senators and Representatives are elected to REPRESENT THE PEOPLE. Representing lobbyists, money sources, popular cliques, the desires of "superiors", themselves or any entity other than the PEOPLE OF THEIR DISTRICT is NOT their job. As such, they should be fired by the PEOPLE OF THEIR DISTRICT, many of whom will be receiving this email.
Thank you so much for bringing what is happening in OUR HOUSE to our attention. We have been slow to wake up, but please assure those who need to realize it that we are watching. More importantly, God, our Father is watching, and He is a God of both Love AND Justice.
Thank you again, Senator Moon. PLEASE continue to keep us informed. We can only help when we know what is happening.
Sincerely,
Rachel Gifford

The second letter, below, was sent to Cindy O’Laughlin and Caleb Rowden with Bcc to ALL Senators. It is in response to Senate leaders dismissing Senate business for several days to attend the Chiefs Celebration. SEVERAL DAYS!!!!! NOT just Wednesday! That is an outrage!
Read on -
Dear Senators O'Laughlin and Rowden,
I recall hearing your disgust toward Senators Brattin, Eigel, Koenig and Hoskins at how they were such "obstructionists", and how they were "tying up everything in the Senate so nothing could move forward."
How very hypocritical of you. You, the Senate Floor Leader and President Pro Tem literally LEFT YOUR SENATE OFFICES, and discharged any Senators from working to ATTEND THE CHIEFS CELEBRATION.
YOU are the obstructionists. YOU are the Senators who could care less about moving forward IP Reform which is part of the Republican Platform. YOU also are liars. You made a deal with Freedom Caucus Senators to move IP Reform to the Senate floor immediately after they elected administration personnel.
They held up their end of the deal. NEITHER of you did.
Please stop acting like children. MOVE FORWARD IP REFORM. At this point much of Missouri is watching your antics. Kirksville sees you, Senator O'Laughlin. Boone County sees you, Senator Rowden.
Move IP Reform to a vote as you said you would. You gave your word. Does that mean anything to you?
Sincerely,
Rachel Gifford

So. I think we all need to continuously let these Senators know we are watching them. I’ve contacted people in my hometown area asking their Commissioners, RCC members, whomever, to write Senators Rowden and O’Laughlin letting them know their whole state is watching.
I encourage you to do the same. I’ve contacted the following counties: Adair, Scotland, Putnam, and Shelby. Contact people you know in other counties. Encourage them to have their RCC members write an email. Or their Commissioners. Write an individual citizen email. Pepper these folks from everywhere!!!! Let them know as emperors, THEY HAVE NO CLOTHES. And we’ve figured it out.
I’ll continue writing letters. I’ll post some here if you’re interested. PLEASE TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO DO THIS AS WELL. THEY MUST KNOW WE’RE WATCHING THEM.
FEEL FREE TO SHARE IF YOU LIKE.
Many hugs to ALL of you!!!!
THANK YOU FOR CALLING THEM OUT ON THEIR LACK OF INTERGITY.
Yes, we are watching them and must keep letting them know we expect action NOW!
You are appreciated for taking a stand.
