We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 -🌆🏡 Is Our Community Changing?

Hi Folks!!!

God has reached into my heart with His Righteous Right Hand, and is pulling me toward something “new”, that actually is ancient.

Okay, that being said, what in the world am I talking about?!?!?

Many of you may remember me saying at different times, that about 3 years ago I was watching what was happening in our world, and I told Jerry, “If I don’t DO SOMETHING(!) I’m going to EXPLODE from the inside out!?” Out of that explosive urging, We the People of Johnson County Missouri was born.

However, back then I didn’t fully realize the call was from God. In fact, I tried to kind of keep God low-key in our meetings, as I felt “education” was what needed. “Help people understand what’s going on around them, and we’ll all change together to get our country back.”

That was the beginning.

God is GROWING me. You know what I’m talking about, right? We head out one direction, and God keeps moving us His Way, and all of a sudden, we realize, “HEY! God is CHANGING ME! And man, oh man, I want to just flow into His Plan and hold on to His Right Hand tightly!”

A friend of mine mentioned to me recently that he was surprised by how things were changing in the organization of We the People. That it was including more and more of God’s leading. I thought for a minute, and by-gum, he is RIGHT!!

A number of things have changed over this past summer, and what I initially felt God whispering to me, He’s now saying strongly and powerfully:

Acts 1:8 - “And you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be MY witnesses, in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Hm. That’s kind of a STRONG command. (Ya think?)

After Jesus said those words to His disciples, He was transfigured, LEFT THEM, and went back to heaven. The disciples stood there, staring at Jesus as He floated into the heavens. I don’t know for sure what they were thinking, but were it me, I’d have been thinking, “WHAAAAAAT?!?! You tell me that, then leave?!”

They must have been thinking something like that, because God sent 2 angels to tell them, “Stop STARING into the sky. He’s coming back. It’s all part of a PERFECT, ALMIGHTY, RIGHTEOUS Plan.”

So. The disciples stumbled back to Jerusalem, went upstairs to the room where they were staying, called all the people they knew who were believers in Jesus, and started praying NONSTOP.

THAT was their reaction to Jesus’ command.

His command hasn’t changed.

Where is my Jerusalem? That was the hometown for the apostles. What’s my hometown? Centerview, actually, but much of my business is done in Warrensburg. God is calling me to be a witness in Warrensburg? So how does that work?

Matt. 5:16 - Let your Light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and Glorify your Father in heaven.

• LOVE your enemies

• Do GOOD to those who hate you

• LOVE your neighbor as yourself

• Trust in the Lord with ALL YOUR HEART, and lean not unto your OWN understanding

• In ALL your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths

• Do not be wise in YOUR OWN EYES, but hear and FOLLOW God’s guidance, and shun evil

There’s lots more, but that’s a healthy bite of the apple.

God’s been calling me to pray diligently for some folks who…well…weren’t my favorite folks in the world. The first thing I noticed was I didn’t want to smack them into tomorrow anymore. You gotta start somewhere. Then I noticed I REALLY want them to know God’s love. Then I noticed God keeps bringing them to my mind, not in a “dang them” way, but in a concerned loving way. The GOODNESS of GOD is astounding.

Instead of angst, I feel love for these folks. THAT, my friends is the Holy Spirit. And I think it’s the beginning of “…letting my Light shine.”

I told you THAT story, to tell you this next story!

I’m reading a book called “Ekklesia”, by Joe Nicola. The gist of the book is that when Jesus asked Peter, “Whom do you SAY I am?”, and Peter said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the LIVING GOD,” Jesus answered by saying, “You’re RIGHT, Peter! And on THAT, I’ll build my Ekklesia.”

The word Ekklesia has been translated to English to mean “church.” However, there was no such thing as a “church” back then. So what was Jesus talking about?

You need to read this book for yourself, for sure, but the short answer is when the disciples asked Jesus how to pray He said,

Matt. 6: 9-10 “…Our Father Who is in heaven, HOLY is Your Name. YOUR KINGDOM COME, YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH, THE SAME WAY IT’S DONE IN HEAVEN…”

Jesus wasn’t talking about building a congregation. He was instructing us to build a GOVERNMENT. (WHAAAAAAAAATTTTT?!?!?!?!?!?)

In the book Ekklesia, there are a LOT more verses that support that, as well as an historical background that provides context for what Jesus was saying.

I’ll let you chew, ponder and PRAY about that for now.

There are SO MANY WAYS to get involved in letting your Light so shine before the people in your home town, so they’ll see your Good Works, and glorify your Father in Heaven, which will THEN CHANGE OUR HOME TOWN!! STAY TUNED!!!

HERE’S A HINT: After Jerusalem, one’s hometown, Warrensburg, Holden, Clinton, etc, comes Judea. In Jesus’ day, that would kind of be like one’s county - Johnson County. Then Samaria, that would be like our state, MISSOURI. Then to the uttermost parts of the earth!!!!!! That would be like…well…the uttermost parts of the earth. Right.

Don’t get overwhelmed!!! God’s asking us to eat the elephant one-bite-at-a-time. And He’s showing us the Way….day by day. HOLD TIGHT to His Right Hand, because He’s holding us TIGHTLY with supernatural strength!!!
