We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Friday, February 2, 2024 We Want Our State Back Rally in Jeff City - Synopsis - AND - The Gathering with Jodi Widhalm!
Hi Folks!
I tell you what, this event was AWESOME!!!
In case you’ve been living in a cave and have no idea what I’m talking about, this past Tuesday, January 30, was a HUGE rally in Jefferson City supporting our Freedom Caucus Senators Rick Brattin, Denny Hoskins, Bill Eigel and Andrew Koenig, and giving a vote of NO CONFIDENCE to Senate Floor Leader Cindy O’Laughlin and President Pro Tem Caleb Rowden.
What a day of feeling like conservatives using our voices in UNISON!!!
The event started on the 2nd floor of the Capitol in the main hallway. Jodi Widhalm of jodigrace.com opened us with prayer, Doug Billings spoke about what has happened since the last week of January on the Senate floor, and then our Senators spoke!!!
Senator Rick Brattin, Chair of the Freedom Caucus (FC) for Missouri knocked it out of the park letting people know what the FC has been doing in their filibusters to push Initiative Petition (IP) Reform to the Senate floor against the will of Senators O’Laughlin and Rowden. O’Laughlin and Rowden say that IP Reform is a “priority” for them and for Republicans in general, however in the past 2 years, O’Laughlin and other Senate leaders have intentionally pushed that vote to the last few days of the last week of sessions. As such, time “conveniently” ran out for the vote to come to fruition.
WHY?!?!?!?
That is the reasonable question. If this is a Republican priority, why is this the THIRD YEAR conservative Senators are trying desperately to get it to the floor for a vote????? Why are floor leaders blocking these Senators? Actions speak louder than words, and O’Laughlin’s actions say she doesn’t want it to move toward a vote. Not sure what other conclusion could be drawn there, but that one certainly comes to top of mind.
What’s so important about IP Reform, and WHY so important NOW?!
Good question! Remember when Amendment 3 enshrined the legal sale of marijuana in the Missouri Constitution a couple of years or so ago? Many people thought, “Oh for Pete’s sake, a little mary-jo now and then…how can THAT be so bad?” Well, ask the law-abiding folks in Colorado. Statistically, what follows legalization of marijuana is a spike and continued growth in crime in the legalized state. In addition, like it or disbelieve it, marijuana also is statistically shown to be a gateway drug for stronger addictive substances. Marvy. We all need that. NOT. 😏
I know…sometimes statistics lie. Well aware. However, ask your local law enforcement officials what they think about these statistics, and you’ll find out what their experience tells them: increased crime/gateway drug.
Pro-abortion activists and Ranked Choice Voting activists are poised and drooling over the exceptionally easy way Missourians allow changes to their Constitution.
Here’s an example:
There are 163 state house districts in MO. It only took about 6 districts to have a strong majority “yes” vote for Amendment 3 to get it passed in MO. That’s 6 out of…163! The vote effectively silenced the vast majority of our state.
With The Ratification by Concurrent Majority plan BOTH
a majority popular vote (like we have now) AND
a majority vote of citizens in more than half of the 163 state house districts is required to ratify (pass) an amendment.
If you’d like to see the MO map of who voted for/against Amendment 3 it says a LOT about whose voices are heard and whose are not. Click HERE.
Why will Concurrent Majority Ratification (CMR) using State House Districts save our Constitution?
This wording is from Freedom Principle MO, “Under the CMR plan using state representative districts, it would require 82 state representative districts to pass a bill (out of the total 163 districts, so 50%+1 is a majority).
When looking at the 2022 primary and general election results, Missouri has 85 state representative districts that received a 66% or higher Republican vote percentage. This means we can block these types of petitions (abortion/RCV or Ranked Choice Voting) from being passed. Additionally, there are another 24 state representative districts that received a 50% or higher Republican vote percentage.”
Does that help you understand why we need CMR which is the IP Reform our Freedom Caucus Senators are fighting for? If not, take a look at this letter from Freedom Principle MO.
So now we know WHY we need IP Reform. BUT WHY ARE SENATE LEADERS WORKING AGAINST IT?
Patience, Grasshopper! What we’ve found is that President Pro Tem Caleb Rowden has logged a whopping contribution of $200,000 from a pro-abortion PAC into his financial contributions. This is documented on mec.mo.gov
So. Our REPUBLICAN President Pro Tem, is bought out by the Pro-abortion league. Can you say RINO? Can you say traitor? Can you say, “WHAT the F***? Yeah, me, too.
SO! HOW DID THE RALLY GO?????
It was packed!!! The “official count” was 350 - 400. It FELT like at least that many!
The pro-abortion folks were around 100 - 150.
Jerry counted 35+ folks from Johnson County who attended the Rally!
After our “ousted” Freedom Caucus Senators: Rick Brattin, Denny Hoskins, Bill Eigel and Andrew Koenig, talked about the “happenings” in the Senate of the past couple of weeks, attendees were given 3 cards, 1 blue, 1 green and 1 yellow.
The cards had a shortened version of a letter of support for our FC Senators, and a statement of NO CONFIDENCE for Senators O’Laughlin and Rowden. You could sign your name at the bottom, and distribute different colored cards to YOUR SENATOR (blue), Sen. O’Laughlin (yellow) and Sen Rowden (green).
IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!
Seeing the line of people outside Rowden and O’Laughlin’s doors politely waiting to generously give administrative assistants the green and yellow cards was absolutely PRICELESS!!!
Dee Ann Poole even got some pics of the massive stack of cards on O’Laughlin’s desk. (Okay, pardon me while I hoot, holler and snicker just the tiniest of bits. Gloating now completed.)
They printed 300 packets of cards and ran out long before everyone got them.
Our voices were heard.
I guess that’s it in a nutshell. If I’ve left out anything or been inaccurate on any of this, please let me know in the Comments section. I try hard to be accurate, and I am NOT perfect. I appreciate any “little help from my friends”!
