We the People of Johnson County Missouri - Wednesday, June 21, 2023 📢 Meeting Follow Up & MORE!!!
Hi Folks!
Lots of stuff to discuss today!!
Sound of Freedom movie coming to Warrensburg
Follow up from our meeting last Monday
MoDOT Comment page for J turns replacing median crossings
Info on a new website RepublicansofMO.com
Turning Point USA, June 30, 7pm, Cowboy Church
SO…let’s get started!!
First, are you all familiar with The Sound of Freedom movie? It’s a documentary about a guy who has worked with rescuing children from child trafficking. It’s actually about the business of child trafficking, which is almost as big a business as truck transportation in the US.
It shows at the Warrensburg Cinema July 3. Go here for times and tickets. The movie goal is to get 2 million tickets sold to represent the 2 million children trafficked.
I have a feeling I’ll come out feeling kind of sick, but with a steeling in my gut to do what I can to stop this. Stopping the drag queen shows for kids in Missouri is one way to help. Praying for this to stop, and for God to help the children is another way.
I’d LOVE it if a bunch of us went to see this together. It’s on our fb page, so you can buy tickets there or using the pink link above!
Second, the MoDOT removal of 10 median crosses, to replace them with 5 J-turns. Here’s the link to put in your comments. On the website there are a couple of other links to get a close-up view of the changes. To me, it doesn’t appear to assist traffic flow or improve safety, and it definitely causes longer response times for emergency vehicles.
Click on the link and give them your comments. Otherwise, you have to live peacefully with what you get. No complaining rights! 😁
(Stop reading and do it now.)
Third, I’ve found a new website that helps define what Republican Central Committees are all about, how they should work, how they define and vet Republican candidates, and SO MUCH MORE!!!
Under the Party Business tab, you’ll find The Republican Platform so you can solidify what Republicans really stand for. What you’ll realize is there are a LOT of people in the MO Legislature that do NOT vote according to this platform. We the People need to vet our candidates according to this document. And we need to “coach and counsel” them if their voting record doesn't align with the Platform. AND we need to email and PRAISE THEM when they do!
You’ll also find the Wall of Fame and the Wall of Shame showing legislators who did and did not vote according to the Republican Platform.
I’m really excited! Here’s the link. It’s RepublicansofMO.com, and the name is pretty self-explanatory. On the home page it gives a summary of what was and was NOT accomplished in the 2023 Legislative Session. It was overall pretty sad.
Take about 5 minutes to look through this. The information is essential.
Fourth, we had a jam-packed meeting!!! More than our time really allotted, I’m afraid. We heard from several of you that you wished Shelly Harrison had more time to discuss COS (Convention of States). We agree! So, we’re bringing her back for our September meeting!!!!
We for sure will have Senator Brattin come back again, as well!
Mike Compton said he would be glad to share his videos from the drag queen show for kids here in Warrensburg with anyone who had interest. I know we have a private group on fb, but I don’t really feel comfortable putting it there. However, I’ll ask Mike if he would send me the links, and I can put it here on substack.com.
A reminder for all of us wanting to attend the Turning Point USA event Amanda Wiley announced; info below!
This gives us another chance to hear Senator Brattin speak and ask questions, as well as all the other EXCELLENT speakers. Yippee!!!
OK, now for you sweet procrastinators, here are the links for the movie, MoDOT comments and Republicans of Missouri again! GO TO IT!!!!!
Great to see everyone last night!!! Share this POST, and invite, InViTe, INVITE!!!!! WE’RE STILL JUST SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF FOLKS WHO WANT TO KNOW ABOUT US!!
I enjoy your emails/posts, but I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you about the J turns and hope many will provide support to the closing of crossovers and installation of J-turns on 50 Hwy.
I was a traffic engineer with MoDOT when they installed the 50/58 J-turn in 2014. I saw first hand before, during, and after construction that traffic flow and the crash history/experience improved. In 2013 and 2014, before the J-turn was installed, there were 13 crashes in that area (and one during construction) but it took >5 years to have another 14 crashes in the same area. In addition, the crashes before were usually pretty serious due to many of them being at or within the crossover (t-bone or angle type crashes) whereas now they are much less severe because that type of movement has been eliminated. Additional emergency response times to fewer crashes and more people not seriously injured or dead is a win in my book.
It's been almost 10 years since then and I work elsewhere now doing the same type of work, but I'm sure the value from that project I worked on in 2014 has helped save our/your friends and family and this new project will realize the same benefits for all of us to get to our destinations more safely and continue to fight for Freedom and spend more time with our loved ones.
