I enjoy your emails/posts, but I'm going to have to strongly disagree with you about the J turns and hope many will provide support to the closing of crossovers and installation of J-turns on 50 Hwy.

I was a traffic engineer with MoDOT when they installed the 50/58 J-turn in 2014. I saw first hand before, during, and after construction that traffic flow and the crash history/experience improved. In 2013 and 2014, before the J-turn was installed, there were 13 crashes in that area (and one during construction) but it took >5 years to have another 14 crashes in the same area. In addition, the crashes before were usually pretty serious due to many of them being at or within the crossover (t-bone or angle type crashes) whereas now they are much less severe because that type of movement has been eliminated. Additional emergency response times to fewer crashes and more people not seriously injured or dead is a win in my book.

It's been almost 10 years since then and I work elsewhere now doing the same type of work, but I'm sure the value from that project I worked on in 2014 has helped save our/your friends and family and this new project will realize the same benefits for all of us to get to our destinations more safely and continue to fight for Freedom and spend more time with our loved ones.
