We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Saturday, January 13, 2024 ๐ Caucus Rules Document
Hi Folks!
This is the link for the MOGOP Caucus, that will be held March 2.
The next to last paragraph gives a brief summary of what the caucus is and does. As below:
WHAT IS A CAUCUS? The Caucus replaces the normal Presidential Primary, and is how the Missouri Republican Party sends Delegates and Alternates to the Republican National Convention. The caucus is how you, as a voter, will make your voice heard in the nomination process for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States.
As it says, the caucus decides how many votes our county will give for one - or several candidates - depending on the vote count during the caucus. At the caucus a Slate of Delegates will be chosen. These people will take/carry that vote to the CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT Caucus and the STATE Caucus.
In the first paragraph of the link, the last 2 words โclick hereโ take you to the Caucus rules document. That document gives rules 1st for the STATE Caucus, then the CD or CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT Caucus, and on page 14 begins talking about how our LOCAL Caucus is to be conducted. I recommend starting your reading there.
Just know that Slate delegates/alternates chosen at the LOCAL Caucus will take the decision for our Presidential Candidate(s) to the CD Caucus held:
May 4, 2024 State Convention at Springfield Expo Center
Convention Activities include:
Elect 27 national delegates
Missouri Republican National Convention committee man and woman will be elected for a 4 year term
Elect 2 Presidential Electors
Adopt the Republican Platform and/or consider proposed changes to it
The Republican National Convention will be the last stop for delegates and will be held:
July 15, 2024 Republican National Convention in Milwaukee Wisconsin
Iโve read through the information in the link about 4 times now. Iโm still not completely clear on the number of delegates/alternates we need to put on our proposed Slate of delegates. Iโll keep reading it again, and you do the same.
Johnson County gets 8 delegates according to our census. As such we also would choose 8 alternates. But Iโm not sure thatโs our total.
If you figure out how many delegates/alternates we need for a Slate of Delegates, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! ๐๐ If youโd like to put together a Slate of Delegates, go for it.
