We the People of Johnson County Missouri - December 20, 2023 🎪 Meeting Wrap up!
Hi Folks!
We had a fun high-energy meeting Monday! If you missed it, Drat!
We started out:
with Joe Hubbard of Standing in the Gap explaining what he and his wife Tara have done with their ministry. Joe and Tara provide a men’s home, women’s home, and women & children’s home for people dealing with addiction. The women’s and women & children’s homes are new additions to the ministry.
Joe has a remarkable testimony about how God has turned his and Tara’s lives around, and now they help others do the same!! Their ministry is not just providing shelter for folks who need it. They require people in their program to attend training 5 nights/week and give them life-structure to follow.
They teach that Jesus saves all of us, but only those who ask for His Salvation and help will receive it. It’s a great program!! We the People folks brought gifts for the people in the Standing in the Gap program - Bibles, socks, shirts, undies, toiletries, and I’m not even sure what else. It was FUN!!! 🎄😊
Second on the docket:
We moved into the theme of Election Integrity. Early in 2023 we polled We the People as to their thoughts of what the most important issues are facing America, and Election Integrity came out FIRST by quite a bit. Matt Crouch from Heritage Action for America discussed what his group is doing to push Election Integrity.
He discussed Ranked Choice Voting (RCV). The process requires each voter vote for 3 candidates and rank their choice as 1, 2 or 3. If the first vote doesn’t give the winner a 50+1 percentage of the vote, the bottom candidate is moved off the list, and the votes are then counted for No. 2 choice. Problems occur with each vote as follows -
What if you didn’t want to vote for ANY OTHER candidate besides No. 1, so you don’t vote for any other candidates? Well, if you don’t, your ballot is “exhausted”, after No. 1, and you get no votes in the 2nd and 3rd votes. Great. Not.
Can you vote for your candidate as No. 1 vote, No. 2 vote, and No. 3 vote? No. You only get to vote for candidates ONE TIME. Period. 🤔
The only way this convoluted election can be counted is via machine. You can’t do a hand count, so that deepens the muck into which your ballot just dropped. The machines are REQUIRED. Bad News Bears.
Unless the No. 1 candidate gets 50+1% of the vote, what occurs with RCV is weaker candidates win.
Bottom line: we need 1 voter = 1 vote. Then hand-count them.
Some will say it takes too long to hand count a large election. Really? Longer than 3 weeks like the 2020 election????? Get real.
The RCV method has some sisters and brothers out there, so if you hear about Preferred Choice Voting, Equitable Voting and other such types of voting stop and ask: “Is this 1 voter = 1 vote, and can the votes be hand-counted? If the answer is NO, use that as YOUR answer.
Senator Denny Hoskins gave us his thoughts on Election Integrity -
and what he plans to do if/when he becomes the next Secretary of State. The Secretary of State has Election Oversight as one of the main job focuses. I’ll bullet point his thoughts below, and I can tell you…I didn’t get them written down, so I’m going to miss several. Sorry! Another reason to be SURE you come to the meetings! 😃😃
Missouri is ranked No. 3 in the United States for Election Integrity. That’s the GOOD NEWS. The not as good news is we are at 83%, and that makes us 3rd. Hm. I have a couple of thoughts about that:
83 % isn’t that high. I’d have thought 3rd highest would still be in the 90s.
What can we change that would take us to 100% ?
As our state bleeds more and more purple, what will happen to our Election Integrity?
Missouri Legislative sessions don’t start until January 3, but Senator Hoskins has already filed a bill called Office of Election Integrity. It would provide staffing to go to polls before, after and during elections if a problem arises. Staff will be based in St. Louis, Springfield, Jefferson City and Kansas City.
He discussed Senate Joint Resolution 48 that deals with Initiative Proposals (IP). IPs allow Missouri constituents to bring something to Jeff City they would like to have made into law. He mentioned there are 3 different ways to do an IP, each with different levels of complexity. He favored the middle level of complexity that is discussed in SJR 48. The reason being, MO is in for a fight to maintain a ProLife position. If SJR 48 is passed it will give a medium level of complexity instead of the easiest level of complexity for ProDeath advocates to get abortion approval on the ballot.
He discussed Senate Bill (SB) 917 that advocates for hand counting ballots. Watch for that to come up during sessions so you can call/email legislators. Jodi Grace covers the sessions REALLY WELL on her website, so check in there. It’s under repair right now, but when it’s corrected the site is Jodigrace.com.
He is advocating the SAVE Act to prevent illegal aliens from voting. SAVE stands for Systematic Alien Verification of Elections. It allows people at polling stations to immediately check an ID card to be certain the voter-to-be is registered as a citizen of the USA and a registered voter.
Bottom Line: Senator Hoskins advocates:
1 voter = 1 ballot = 1 vote
hand count ballots; NO machines
1 day for elections
no ballot boxes
minimize mail-in ballots for only those who truly cannot come in-person
have security cameras in place for voting locations
Senator Rick Brattin gave an update on Missouri Freedom Caucus
This is how the 2023 Legislative session went for Democrats in the Super Majority Republican state of Missouri -
This is why we need the Missouri Freedom Caucus.
The Missouri Freedom Caucus falls under the National Freedom Caucus, and provides Missouri with a great deal more power. Currently it has 11 members in Missouri, and Senators Hoskins and Brattin are 2 of them!!!
Who do YOU want to vote for???
It provides a process for information about legislative sessions to be sent in real-time to constituents, who can then be alerted to call/email their specific legislators involved, to vote yes or no on bills.
It also allows legislators who do not vote with the caucus to be pitched. YAY!!! Buh BYE, Democrats in RED clothing!!!
There was more, but I didn’t get it all. Take the time to reach out to Senator Brattin and ask him about the Missouri Freedom Caucus. He’ll be GLAD to send you more info.
WE NOW HAVE TWO TOOLS TO IDENTIFY TRUE REPUBLICANS:
Are they members of the Missouri Freedom Caucus?
Have they been VETTED and found to be a TRUE Republican?
