We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Tuesday, July 25, 2023 I Saw The Sound of Freedom...Now What???
Hi Folks!
I know a bunch of us have seen the movie, The Sound of Freedom.” We were lucky enough to see the movie with Laurel and R.E. Morton, and then discuss afterwards, “NOW WHAT CAN WE DO???”
Laurel sent me this link that helps answer the question. You may be wondering the same thing, so click the link and see what action(s) fit you! I read the verse below this morning, and it made me think about my life, and why I got plunked on this earth.
2 Corinthians 3:18 and 2 Corinthians 3:17. I know that’s backwards, but I want to end with v. 17, because it leaves us thinking of FREEDOM!!
v. 18 - And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s GLORY, are being transformed into His Likeness with ever increasing Glory - which comes from the Lord - Who is the Spirit.
The wording is kind of circuitous. What I get from it is that as we spend time with God His GLORY shines through us, drawing others to Him. His Spirit is continually shining through His Children, to draw others to know Him. Wow. Being aware of that is amazing. I’m not continually AWARE of His Presence in me, but the more time I spend realizing He is living IN and THROUGH me, the more real He becomes. Well, that was kind of a circuitous explanation, but hopefully you get the gist of what God’s saying, “Spend time with Me, so My radiance shines from you - to give YOU Joy and Peace, and to DRAW OTHERS to Me.”
Then v. 17 speaks LOUDLY to me about one of my favorite subjects: FREEDOM! Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS, there is FREEDOM!!!!
I really like FREEDOM!!! So, this verse tells me despite what’s happening in my life or the world around me, when I spend time being AWARE of the Spirit of my Lord, I know FREEDOM!
Okay, so HOW can I become AWARE of the Spirit of God? Pray. Sometimes I write down my thoughts to God. It helps me focus. Read His Word. Talk with others about God. Sing songs, hymns and spiritual songs regardless of what my busy hands may be doing. Just quietly say, “Jesus, I trust You.” It reminds me of the reality of His Presence.
Remember John 15:5? “I am the Vine, you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from Me you can do nothing.”
Bottom Line: Stay AWARE of your Vine. 😇😊
