We the People of Johnson County Missouri, Monday, March 3, 2024 🫡🥳Post-Caucus Report!
Hey there, Hi there, Ho there, Folks!
Yesterday was quite an historic day!!! It’s the first time Missouri has had a Caucus - without a Presidential Preference Primary - to decide who will be on our Missouri Republican ballot for Presidential Candidate!
And almost 200 of us showed up in Johnson County!!! One hundred ninety-four of us to be exact!
Give yourselves a HAND and THANK YOURSELF for fulfilling a big responsibility in our state. I kept hearing people say, “Oh we’re only gonna have about 20 people.” “The fairgrounds is way too big a place to have it!” etc, etc. But we pretty much blew it out!
THANK YOU ALL!!!! Thank you for getting the word out and getting yourselves out early on a Saturday morning.
I’ll do a small recap for those of us who had trouble keeping track of what was going on, and those who didn’t make it.
We were tasked with 3 goals:
Nominate a Presidential candidate for the 2024 election ballot.
Nominate a Slate of Delegates and a Slate of Alternate Delegates to take our information to the next level of voting: Congressional District Conventions April 6, 2024 in Sedalia.
Bring forth and vote on Amendments to our Republican Platform.
We had some very important players that led us through the day:
Brandon Phelps, Chairman of the Republican Central Committee (RCC) opened the meeting.
Kit Lindsay was elected as Permanent Chair of the Caucus, and he led us through the morning and early afternoon and kept things light-hearted.
Sarah Wiley was elected as Permanent Secretary of the Caucus, and not only took notes, but filed all the documents required by the MO GOP with time to spare. Stormy Taylor gave her steady help throughout the process.
Violet Corbett and Kevin Mannering jumped in to keep us straight on Parliamentary Procedures.
Mike Compton provided all our amendment paperwork and a/v, which was no small task as there were 54 amendments!
Amy Castro read 50 of the amendments and Kirk Walker read 4.
So, what were our results?
Goal No. 1 - 🫡Donald J. Trump was overwhelmingly voted in for Missouri Republican Presidential Candidate.
Goal No. 2 - We then moved on to the Slate of Delegates that will carry our voting decisions forward to the Congressional District Convention April 4 in Sedalia, MO.
For our Primary Slate of Delegates, we elected:

Sheryl Gorden
Brent Green
Mike Compton
Sarah Wiley
Nadine Soles
Dee Ann Poole
For our Slate of Alternate Delegates, we elected:
Amy Castro
Kit Lindsay
Mindy Sergent
Mary Kelledes
Roscoe VanAusdoll
Steven Poole
Charlotte Davis
Verna Jenkins
Goal No. 3 - Our third caucus assignment was to provide and vote on any amendments we want in our Republican Platform. The amendments that carried will move to the Congressional District Convention April 4 in Sedalia, MO for ratification.
A total of 48 amendments were adopted to carry forward to the Congressional Caucus to be voted on to amend our Republican Platform. They were all good things for amending our Platform.
Because there are so many, I’ll put them in tomorrow’s blog to break up your reading time lest your eyes get weary, bleary and you need to take a nap and maybe an ibuprofen! 😄
In my opinion, and opinions I heard from a number of other folks, the Caucus was successful. It wasn’t as smooth as it might have been, but we accomplished our Goals!!
I’ll add a personal note here. I think what we did was pleasing to God.
True Confession: Saturday morning I woke up tired and just wanting this dang Caucus over with!!! I asked God for help with an attitude adjustment, and it went something like this:
Me: GOD! I’M TIRED!!! Will ANY good come from this caucus? Will people even show up? WHEN can I lay down and sleep????
God: I love you so much, Rachel. I know you’re tired. But you know what? I put you in a country where you CAN have a say in your government! WORKING to move toward a GODLY government is work, true that. BUT…and this is a BIG BUT(!) YOU GET TO HAVE A SAY IN HAVING/NOT HAVING FREEDOM!!!!!
Me: (…Excitement starting in my heart and spreading up, down and THROUGH my whole body) YES, GOD!! YESSSS!! (Tears starting to perk out my eyes.) YES, precious Lord, YES!!!! WHAT A PRIVILEGE! THANK YOU MY HOLY, BEAUTIFUL AND GLORIOUS KING!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
God: (smiling…) Okay, now you have holy energy called JOY(!) inside you. Let’s GO!!!
And we went.
Folks, this FREEDOM thing is no small deal. We have to FIGHT for the RIGHT to PARRRRRRTTTYYYYYYY!!!!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳
It starts with PRAYER. It ends with PRAYER. And there’s daily, hourly prayer all the way in between.
If MY people who are called by My name (Children of God) will humble themselves
and PRAY
and SEEK MY FACE,
and TURN from their wicked (self-reliant, self-focused, self-absorbed…) ways
THEN…
Will I hear from HEAVEN and
will forgive their sin, and
Heal THEIR LAND.
2 Chronicles 7:14.
WE CAN DO THIS!!!!! WE GET TO DO THIS!!! DOING THIS BRINGS JOY LIKE WE’VE NEVER KNOWN BEFORE!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! YES, GOD, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

So many people worked very hard to make this happen! Kudos to you all. And kudos to the nearly 200 in attendance for showing up for our country!
So proud of our group and especially the key figures who have worked so hard and what a great accomplishment. So sorry I wasn't able to be there, Saturday. I will be on point for the next two dates!!!
