Hi Folks!
Doing a late night Saturday post, so Happy Sunday, to most of you!
Bill Irwin, who is running for Missouri No. 4 Congressional Disrict has been meeting with Missouri healthcare providers who are doing unique things with their practices to cut costs. I’m passing along some of the information Team Irwin has gleaned. I REALLY LIKE some of these ideas. Healthcare does NOT have to be expensive. Before insurance companies became the “third party payers”, healthcare was LESS EXPENSIVE and MORE PERSONAL. Insurance has done us a great disservice. I’m old enough to have watched the metamorphosis since insurance barged in, and it hasn’t been pretty. Read below from Bill Irwin’s Team -
“Big thanks to Missouri Representative Dr. Thomas and Travis the owner of Tonka Hills Restaurant, for holding a town hall meeting to open the conversation on solutions to rising health care cost. There were 4 great speakers:
🩺Dr Jenny Powell, who in 2013 started a direct primary care (DPC) clinic that does not bill insurance companies and offers their members access to their doctor 24/365! She does not have to deal with state or federal government entities to tell her how to run her business. Family medicine should not be expensive!
🩺 Jason Gruender, from Liberty Family Medicine out of Columbia. Direct primary care is the answer to overworked doctors! The point is to try to keep you out of urgent care and lower prices on medications by cutting out insurance companies. Another amazing model!
💊 Ned Head is a cash only pharmacy … they cut out the middleman, so people save $$$ on prescriptions with generic medicine. They are conducting an insurgency against big $$$ pharmaceuticals!
🩺 Lauren Martin and her husband Dr. Martin, run the Lighthouse Convenience Clinic, in Camdenton. They allow Doctors to be Doctors, and not “paper work filler outers!” They also don’t have “Big Brother” looking over shoulder!
Stay tuned for the next meeting where they will talk about Medicare and the bombardment of information those over 66 get.”
Thanks, Team Irwin, and good luck Aug. 2!
Anybody out there heard of other clinics doing great things that:
Reduce medical costs
Make healthcare personal
Get rid of the masks
Help people get what we ACTUALLY need instead of a LOT of drugs & procedures we may not need that could actually do us harm?

I’ve been a nurse a looooong time, and I actually remember as a kid our doctor did house calls. His name was Dr. Earl, and he had an awesome boxer dog named King that he brought along. King was the best. Dr. Earl would hold us on his knee when he listened to our hearts. We loved Dr. Earl almost as much as we loved King.
If Dr. Earl had to give us a shot, he would put King in the car. Why? Because one time when Dr. Earl gave one of the kids a shot, the child cried, and King bit Dr. Earl! Good King. Good, GOOD King!! 😁
