Hi folks!

AWESOME MEETING MONDAY NIGHT!!!! I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in the coming week!!

Below is a letter I’ve written to the editor of the Warrensburg Star Journal. They require you put your name and hometown on the article and provide a daytime phone number where you can be reached. I’m happy to give them my number, and wondered if others of us-all might want your name/hometown added to the letter. The letters can ONLY be 250 words long, so that took some careful pruning! 🙄

Many Warrensburg folks don’t know drag queen shows FOR CHILDREN were held in our area the past 2 years.  June marks the third, hosted the second time, at Warrensburg Elks Lodge.  Perhaps no kids actually attend this…? Wrong. Last year adults dragged in about 40+ kids.

One inaccurate narrative about dqs is: 

“If you don’t agree with dqs you’re homophobic!” Um…hold up there pardner. I have homosexual relatives whom I love. I have homosexual friends. Heck, I dated a couple of guys in high school who later decided they were gay.  Maybe it was me…?

Regardless, homosexuality and drag queens are NOT same/same. Gays Against Groomers is a national organization vehemently resisting dqs for kids, and are incensed when people consider queens a representation of the gay community. 

Confusing kids with sexual shows WAY beyond their ability to understand is…wrong. And it’s a violation of the Missouri Constitution, defining as unlawful, any material or performance if the following apply: “The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find the material/performance taken as a whole, has a tendency to cater or appeal to a prurient interest of minors…”

OK, full disclosure: I had to look up “prurient.”  American Heritage dictionary definition: “characterized by an inordinate interest in sex.”  Watching men cross-dressed as women with snap-on body parts covered by a film of spandex, wearing tons of make-up and Dolly Parton wigs prancing about and twerking….?  That’s a visual definition of “prurient” I can’t un-see.

So, Warrensburg community – action required?

1. PRAY at least 2x/day, asking God to destroy this dqs, and all dqs for kids - ALL of us

4. Request Casey Renfrow of Center Stage NOT be a sponsor for dqs - Casey’s neighbors Mary & …okay, I forgot your husband’s name Mary, as well as your last name. We may have to get bigger name tags!

5. Attend City Council meeting Monday, 4/10 at 7pm to register a community complaint against Drag Queen Show for kids June 3 at the Elks Lodge - Chris Barrett, Pete & Becky Zwally, Mike Compton, others…?

6. Letter to the editor of Wbg Star Journal - Rachel Gifford

7. Make website advert for Citizens Against Child Abuse - Mike Compton & Chris Barrett

8. Contact Nate Mitchell at Culver’s & Marshall Abney at Central Bank to see if they would like to sponsor an advert telling people they are NOT sponsoring the dqs this year - Laurel & RE Morton, Mike Compton

9. Contact BACA about the possibility of working with us to stop the dqs in June - Mary (whose last name I’ve forgotten…☹)
