Many of those votes on the right side of this were amendments to bills, NOT free standing bills. The free standing bills never saw the light of day due to an inordinate amount of time spent arguing over the redistricting maps. There was NEVER a 7-1 map that would hold up to a court challenge. It was a huge waste of time, mostly promulgated by people who stood to gain by a particular map version as they had future political aspirations. A no vote on an amendment is not the same as a no vote on a bill. Amendments that have not been vetted by committee, did not fully address the issue, and in some cases were only tangentially related to the core bill are not the best way to make law. There has been a huge intra party fight going on in the 8th and I will vote for whoever the nominee is, but these accusations lack context in my book and the intraparty fighting is destructive.
